The original edition is titled "Winning Chess." The Fireside reprint is titled "Winning Chess: How to See Three Moves Ahead." There are no differences between these editions. I have them here before me and have compared both. I'm writing this because the original edition, "Winning Chess," is usually much cheaper than the Fireside reprint/5(50).
I recently discovered and purchased a Kindle version of one of my all-time favorite chess books: “Winning Chess” by Irving Chernev and Fred Reinfeld.

WCT picks up where the sections on tactics in "Play Winning Chess" left off. Not too surprisingly, WCT details more subtle or less obvious points about the tactical issues of : Stick Men.
In his book, Winning Chess Endings, Yasser Seirawan does give strategies for playing the endgame, but they are strategies for each specific type of endgame. Don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of tactics in this book that should be memorized, and as Seirawan tells us, being a good endgame player requires being a good : Stick Men.
These highly acclaimed, instructive chess books, by Grandmaster Yasser Seirawan, (including his newest one, Winning Chess Combinations) prove to be our best selling series. An introduction to the moves, strategies, and philosophy of chess, with clear explanations of the game's fundamentals and instructive examples will get you started on the right track.5/5(3).
Book: Besides the kind with a spine, a “book” move is one that a player has learned to play in a particular position in the opening (from a “book” or other media) without the need to “calculate”. Blunder: Winning Chess Explained book bad move; primarily a move that turns a win into a loss or draw, or a draw into a loss.
Overall, though, I think "Winning Chess Tactics" is an excellent addition to the serious chess amateur and enthusiast. Players from Elo to about Elo will probably get the most out of this book. Too far below that and you probably won't understand the concepts being presented/5(83).
